Hey guys, so I purchased Sniper: Ghost Warrior for the PC the other day, I did try to get it for the Xbox 360, but there was none left, so I settled for the PC version. Good thing my 360 controller is USB, so i can use it instead of a mouse and keyboard. Anyway, since I have enjoyed it so much, I’ve decided to write a review about it for all of you.

Ok, so I read a review about it before I bought it, and heard some things about it from my mate who works at a local games store too, some of the things people were saying about the game were quite negative, things like; it has bad graphics, environmental glitches, bad gameplay, etc. But I’m here to tell you that these things are not as close to the truth as these people would have you believe.

Story

Ok, to be honest, there really isn’t much of a storyline, but you all saw that coming, didn’t you? I mean, come on, it’s an army/marine/special-ops game, what do you expect? There is a slight story in here, I mean, you do know who you’re killing and why you’re killing them, but aside from that, you don’t really know who you are except that you’re one hell of a shot who has to take down targets for a government establishment.

Gameplay

The gameplay is very good, I don’t care what anyone else says about it. Some people say it’s boring when you’re transitioning between sniper spots, having to infiltrate enemy buildings/camps to get there, but I say no, most of the fun happens when you’re transitioning, having to sneak around can be fun if you know how. I personally like to use my sniper in super close quarters (just as I do in Call of Duty), by no-scoping them or laying down in grass and taking them out after they just walked past you.

Graphics

Some people say the graphics are horrible, but they’re wrong, the graphics are actually quite good, the problem is; it takes a lot of processing power to run the game on it’s highest quality, there-for, slowing the game down and giving you lag. I personally have quite a high-end PC and still had to bring the quality down so it didn’t lag. Other than that, the graphics are amazing, even on the “balanced” quality setting.

Special Stuff

This game has a few cool gadgets and tricks you can do when you’re playing, for example:

When you head shot someone from a fair distance away, bullet tracking comes into play, which means the camera will follow the bullet from the moment it leaves the chamber, to the moment it enters the targets head. It looks really awesome.

You can slow time down for a short period of time when you’re scoped in so that you can target the enemy easier. When doing this, it elevates your heart-rate, you must get it back to a reasonable rate before you can use it again.

This game uses real bullet physics, which means that the bullet wont necessarily go where you’re pointing the sight, it accounts for wind speed and bullet drop, thankfully it gives you a secondary aiming reticule that tells you where the bullet should end up. Unfortunately, I don’t think this game incorporates the Coriolis Effect, which is a shame because I like “bending” bullets.

Recommendation

I would recommend any avid snipers to buy this game, it is definitely the game for you. I personally use my sniper on Call of Duty: MW2 online all the time, in every situation, that is why I love this game, so if you’re like me, get it, get it right now.

Thanks for reading! I hope you all enjoyed my little review and I hope I helped you make your decision. If you’ve played this game and have anything further to add to what I have wrote, put it in the comments and start a friendly discussion.

Also, if you’d like to have a few games with me sometime, I have a Steam Gamertag (which is for the PC) which is MentalGamefreak (Yep, just like my Xbox Live Gamertag). So add me if you want.

Hey guys, today I have decided to give away my file uploading script that I built a while ago. I’m giving this away completely free because I believe most things on the internet should be free.

I’m doing this because most free file uploading scripts these days either have way too many features to the point where you have to edit a dozen files to get them to work. Or they don’t even come with the basic features like giving the link to the file after it’s been uploaded or giving error messages when a user didn’t complete the action correctly.

Also, some uploading scripts have built in themes that can get very confusing for some people who aren’t learned in advanced coding or theme styling. That is why I have made two versions of the script. One is a version with a built in design while the other one is a “Bare-bones” version (just the script and nothing else). This means you can either keep/edit the design I have made, or you can make your own unique design from scratch.

Information

I have moved all of the files to the downloads page. You can find them there or go through the list of versions below.

Links

All version of UPLOAD listed in order here:

UPLOAD V1

Bare Bones V1

UPLOAD V2

Bare Bones V1.5

This list will be updated as soon as a new version comes out, so check back occasionally to see if a new one is in.

All of these scripts will need a few edits, all you need to do is open the index.php file and follow the comments instructions. Comments will look like this:

<!-- Hi, this is a HTML comment -->

/* Hi, this is a PHP comment. */

You will also have to edit the header image for the full version, so I included the .PSD for it so you can.

Please excuse the fact that I’m posting this in the “How-to” category, I didn’t think making another category just for this script is appropriate as I probably wont do many freebies, but who knows..

Anyway, I hope you enjoy them, good luck with your upload site and thanks for reading!

So recently it has come to my attention that I use my mobile phone A LOT, but it can’t be helped. I have been on a plan that gives me unlimited sms, mms, internet and IM’s for free but does not include calls, I have to pay extra for calls but each minute costs a fortune.

Well lately I’ve been having to call people and if I keep it up it will cots a tonne of money. So I decided to buy a pre-paid phone to use for just calls so that I know how much I’m spending on calls and can’t go over my price limit.

The reason I’m not switching to a pre-paid and scrapping the plan is because I got the bill today and it said that I used over 1,000 dollars worth of texts in one month, which I don’t have to pay for, thank god, I only have to pay the set plan price because it’s free for texts. With the new one, I can get a 30 Turbo Recharge and get 300 dollars worth of credit with it.

So anyway, the phone I bought is a Nokia 5233 Colored Black, it’s touch screen and is easy to use. There is a picture of it below.

It cost 200 dollars with a Sim card. Now I wont have to worry about unexpected bills with insanely large prices on it anymore.

Hey guys, Tim here again. This post was started ages ago, but I had to start again because the original idea for it was to write it whilst I was still playing though it and give my thoughts as they came. But unfortunately I ended up finishing the game before I finished the post, so I had rewrite it.

I was really planning to do a long post on this game; it deserves it. But I know not many people love two page posts, and I honestly skip to the end for the conclusion, anyway. So instead of writing a prologue, ode, episode, ode, and epilogue, let’s just cut the bullshit and dive in.

That Was a Prologue..

Yeah, I know, but it can’t be helped. This isn’t a Greek play, I’ll avoid the odes. You probably won’t like my singing anyway.

I’m going to tell you guys straight up what my thoughts are on this game. Keep in mind I’ve always enjoyed Rockstar’s open world games, even doing stupid shit like off-roading in Limousines in GTA4. But this game will destroy your time with it’s purposefully packed in time wasting crap — not the bad kind either.

Story

First, I’d like to talk about the story. It’s pretty good. Better than GTA4, as I assume it benefits from being under 20 hours long (woot?) and the voice acting is pretty damn good. Several times on missions, after some scumbag’s been getting me to do his dirtywork for a little bit just to get some detail or item out of him, John (main character; you) complains to him in a manly sort of way and dead on tells the guy he’ll kill his sorry ass if he leads him on again. It’s kind of like what I hear Uncharted 2 was like, in the player-protagonist thoughts department.

Back to story, you feel like it’s all believable, you’re a part of it, and you’re a badass. You wipe out whole gangs, rob trains without anybody noticing you, and hunt down your old gang members before they kill you.

Misc. Fun Cosas

The random shit, that’s entertaining. It’s all there. Hunting armadillos to grizzly bears and cougars (cougars are hard, keep an eye out), doing fun missions for strangers (er, “Stranger Missions”), getting challenged to draw-your-gun-first duels, random events, and much more. Personally, I enjoy hogtying whole towns. I loved all of this.

Looks

But is it pretty? Does it sound good? You shallow bastard, don’t be vain and only go by looks! But if you really want to know, this thing’s Megan Fox in a bikini and sounds like pure bliss. Everything’s sharp in 720p for me, runs fine, and textures are high-res. If you’re a PS3 owner, you will have slightly worse graphics than us 360 owners, but that’s because it’s a port. However, everybody I’ve heard play it on PS3 hasn’t whined much, it’s just slightly lower-res textures by a few pixels is all, I hear.

It sound’s amazing with every gunshot sounding fine and great, especially on a Turtle Beach Headset, with great voice acting and tons of unique voices. Horses sound pretty great, too. Along with the other 50 species in the game.

Presentation (Like Menus and Cutscenes)

The menus are similar to GTA4s, listing every stat in the stat panel, brightness/contrast/brightness sliders, full weapon info, challenges, mission logs, and more. Outfits panel, too. 14 outfits total. There’s an in-game weapon wheel, for access without pausing as well. Hey, there’s also dynamite!

All the cut-scenes are pretty well done with good camera angles and I have nothing to complain about, honestly.

The World Is Flat, Right?

No, it’s round. Earth is round. Go to school, and learn to do something like reading while you’re at it.

RDR’s world has open plains, rolling hills, epic vistas, tall cliffs, rugged mountains, rivers (that you can’t swim in :C, but who knew how to swim in 1911?), and just a world I can’t describe without you buying the damn game and experiencing it with me. Here, buy it! It’s great, but if this isn’t for you, I won’t judge., it’s just that you live in a desolate world with people that shake babies and haven’t experienced the joy of baby sloths, but that’s you’re fault, Jesus still loves you, but more so if you buy this game, trust me.

This is An Epilogue

Without pressuring you, I can full-heartedly say this game deserves a buy. I didn’t mention the multiplayer (full free roam, deathmatch, and gang hideout attacks and you can make a posse, or 6-man team) because everybody seems to have they’re own opinion on it. Personally, I preferred GTA’s, but this is also coming from the guy that loves racing games, owns the original Burnout, and is always the driver in any game he plays. And GTA has cars. RDR has horses. It’s that simple.

Any questions about this game, please feel free to comment below, and any tips or critiques you have on my writing you can write below, as well. I love critiques, they make me a better writer.

Hey guys, so recently I saw an advertisement on Facebook about an “Xbox 720″ with a picture of what looked like a Prototype Xbox, I thought it was probably just a scam or a hoax or something since I had heard nothing of it before. But I hovered over the advert and noticed the link was pointing to a Facebook page, so I figured there was no harm in going to one of them.

When I clicked it, It opened a video that looked very authentic, the video was of a nice, sleek and stylish new looking Xbox and the way the video was made was just like Microsoft make their other previews, so I researched it a bit more and it turns out that it’s real, only thing is it’s not called the Xbox 720, it’s actually called the Xbox 360 Slim and it’s already been released which took a lot of people by surprise, even me. It is essentially a slimmed down 360, painted a very shinny black with a stylish intent in the front of it. Click here to see it.

It looks, to me, like they’ve crossed the Xbox (the original) with the Xbox Elite, painted it with a gloss finish, made it skinnier and also shorter and have boosted up the amount of Gig’s the HDD has (now at 250GB).

I’ve also heard that on-top of it having Built-in WiFi, it will also be completely wireless and will only need to be charged every now and again, I’m not sure how true this is since it was a “Word on the street is..” moment. But if that is true, the up-side is you don’t have to screw around with cords and you could also travel with it. The down-side is that you have to watch the charge level on it and keep charging it over and over which might cause it to slowly lose the amount of battery life it can store at any one time..

Now, some problems with this do arrive however, such as; with all the internal components being either shrunk or moved closer together, wouldn’t it be more likely that with this version we will see the “Ring of Death” more often? It seems like it will be a repeat of the first gen Xbox 360, since there will now be less free room inside the case for it to “Breath” (Air flow) so that it can cool down better and stop the system from over-heating.

Now, Microsoft claims that it will be “less susceptible to RROD (Red Ring of Death)” but I wouldn’t just straight up believe something like that without having some evidence, I mean, lets face it, it wouldn’t be the first time Microsoft screwed up, just look at Internet Explorer and Vista.

In any-case, I wouldn’t mind getting one of these, but I’d say it’d be safer to just wait until the “hard-core” fans figure out what’s wrong, wait till Microsoft fixes it, and then get one. Although it is fairly tempting to get one straight away, just look at that sleek design, it’s hard to resist.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I just thought you might like to know about this and get a heads-up on anything that could go wrong that you should look out for. Well I’ll see you next time, take care!

Feel free to take this further in the comments btw, I’m sure you could strike up a good convo down there.

Me and Dad just had a fist fight. He started swearing at me and I told him to calm down, then he swore at me more so I told him to f**k off, he then punched me in the head, screaming and calling me every foul name under the sun.

We grappled for a while, he started chocking me but I managed to get him into a head-lock and was well and truly able to punch him in the head several times (he wouldn’t have been able to fight back), but before I did, he called “Truce” because he knew he would have been f***ed. I had ample opportunity to hit him but I am not like that, I’m not an asshole.

It was such a dog move with a cowardly finish, I ended up with a few cuts on my face, that’s about all (probably from his wrist watch, I hope it’s broken). His punch did nothing except piss me off and elevate my epinephrine (adrenaline) levels because his punch was piss weak, my little sister could have hit harder than that (seriously, I know because she has punched me before).

He is a real asshole, while this was happening I heard my little sister crying and begging dad to stop it, most of the reason I didn’t hit him was because I didn’t want to upset my sister any further, she was already having a panic attack, it took her ages to calm down, I felt sorry for her, she shouldn’t have to see something like that.

This was the first time it got this bad, mainly because I was fed up with his abusive attitude towards me, I’m not going to stand idly by while someone swears at me, he’s been doing it all my life because I wasn’t strong enough to take him on and he knew that. Hopefully this will teach him that I’m not a kid anymore and he can’t be a cowardly bully anymore.

Well I recently lost my job at the service station where I worked at because I was hanging around work after my shift talking to my friend who was working the shift after me, which was a total load of horse shit since she was still able to complete her tasks and serve customers while I was there.

I speculate that they only sacked me because my friend had quit that morning and they were looking for someone to take it out on and I was the person she’s closest with that worked down there. But I don’t care really, it will give me a chance to find a better job.

Anyway, since they sacked me, I have got back into making PHP scripts from my old “Coding days”, don’t ask me why I’m back into coding because I have no-idea. For some reason, the night they sacked me, I had this sudden urge to finish my upload script that I started making before I got the job there. The ‘coding-block’ that I had back then was no-longer there and I was able to work out what was wrong with the code last time.

So I finished the code and added it as a new feature to my other site (Animation Shed). The feature is called Storage Shed (pretty cool name right?). It allows you to upload and share any files that relate to animation, art or flash for free.

Once I had done that, I was messing with the test site that I used when I was making the code and suddenly felt like making it look nice, so I learned how to use CSS and went for it, the result actually turned out much better than I expected (See image bellow).

Click the image to go to the test site where you can test it out. Just don’t use it for anything as it might not be staying there.

I’m pretty happy now that I’ve finally got the hang of CSS, for some reason, PHP just clicked to me but CSS was over my head even though CSS is meant to be easier..

Anyway, that’s about all I have to say today. See ya next time.

Hey, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything here hasn’t it?!

I’m sorry about that, I haven’t really had any time to sit down and write about my life recently.. So I thought I would update you a bit on what’s been happening. So this will be a giant post where I will try to tell you everything important that has happened since my last blog.

Guest Posting

Well recently you may have noticed that there is a new guy (FM_Tim) posting on the front page instead of me. Well I’m not out of the picture or anything if that’s what you’re thinking, he is going to be writing along-side of me and help keep this place active.

If you would like to do this too, all you have to do is get in-touch with me via the Contact page, Twitter or Facebook and let me know.

Gaming

Well I recently got a bit back into gaming again since I finally got Xbox Live working again, I went out to celebrate the fact that I can now play online again by buying Blur and 1500 MS points to get the new CoD maps.

When I bought blur, I stayed over at my uncles place and we stayed up racing Blur for ages and watched a movie (The Law Abiding Citizen). The games we had were really close. But naturally, I won the tie-breakers.

I have already tested out a few of the CoD maps but I haven’t played much since our internet is being really slow. And we’re not capped because we’re past the date when we should get our download limit back.

My Site

Well I recently updated the look of my other site and it now looks a hell of a lot better than it used to and it has a more cartoony feel to it which is what it needs since the name of the site is Animation Shed.

I’m also posting things there quite regularly now. It’s at least twice a week. I wish I could say the same about this place, I’m really sorry, it’s just that the posts I make here are very well thought-out and take ages to write and think up.

Well that’s about all I want to talk about.. Oh, btw, my gearbox is still f**ed, I haven’t got the new one put in yet.

Ok, bye.

Hey there, today we will be explaining what capturing means and how to setup a capturing device correctly. This How-To is more focused on the “Pinnacle Dazzle” capture device, but works for other devices too.

What is “Capturing”?

I know you’ve probably seen the results of this, “capturing,” even if you don’t know it. Any time you watch a game-play video of a video game, a Machinima, or a “game-play trailer,” that’s capturing. But I haven’t fully explained what it is.

It’s actually very simple; it’s connecting your console via RCA cables to a small black box, about 5 inches long and a few inches wide, not being very thick. That box, in turn, is connected to your computer via USB, which is common for printers, mobile hard-drives, and some microphones, along with many other things. This small flat black box’s sole purpose is to translate for your computer the data that your console’s sending to it. Don’t worry, I won’t get into specifics.

Two Types

There’s 2 main types of capture cards: internal, and external. The one I’ve described and one shown is external, versus a computer-chip looking thing (PCI card) that’s internally installed into your computer (via one of the PCI card slots). The internal ones can fetch very high prices, but extremely good quality, I’d assume IGN and Area5 use internal ones. External, however, is perfectly great, too. The quality’s still excellent, and the price is great as well. I use an external card, and am perfectly satisfied with it.

My Dazzle

The one I have, and would HIGHLY recommend is a Dazzle Video Creator Plus, by Pinnacle. First off, a warning about this product: if you buy the cheaper versions, you WILL be paying for it. The quality is, I hear, not very good. Pay an extra 10 bucks and get the full thing, please. Remember, Dazzle Video Creator PLUS, nothing else.

Now, this Dazzle product goes for an average of $70 USD, but you can find it for cheaper, I think I got mine for about $50 USD.

Setup

First off, what’s in the box when you buy the Dazzle (Video Creator Plus)?

You get your capture card (DVC100), a User Manuel, and an install disc for Pinnacle Studio 12, which allows you to capture the video, edit it, and export it as AVI, MPEG1, 2, and 4, MOV, WMV, and more. The video editor’s actually pretty good, too, it’s easy to learn and when you get deeper into it you can get pretty crazy with it.

Unfortunately, though, Pinnacle does not send a male/male stereo RCA cable, you’ll have to buy one. They’re very cheap, it’s just like the picture show. Make sure it’s got 2 sets of yellow/red/white prongs. Make sure you buy a cable long enough to stretch from your TV to your computer easily.

NOTE: I’ll only be covering physical connections between your console and computer, not setup of the capture card itself with your computer, that’s covered in a booklet that came with the card.

Now, wherever you plug your console into normally, your TV or DVD player or VCR, look where you plugged it in. Above the Red/White/Yellow cables it should say “Input.” Now look for 3 more red/white/yellow holes just like where you plugged those cables in, but empty, and it has to say “Output.” If it doesn’t say it on your TV, look for it on your DVD Player/VCR. But if it didn’t say it there, check your TV. After you’ve found it, plug your newly bought RCA/AV cables into the “Output” holes, making sure the colors match up. Then, the other ends (the other three prongs) should be plugged into your capture card in the corresponding colored slots.

If you only have one spare set of AV slots you’ll need to get some RCA splitters (3 of them), they need to have one male end (prong) and two female ends. Then connect the 3 splitters to your capture card, now run the RCA cable from your TV into one of each of the splitters female ends and make sure they correspond to the colors that the splitters are attached to. Now do the same thing for the other set of RCA cables running from your console.

Test to make sure it’s all connected by opening Pinnacle Studio 12 with your console and TV on like you’d normally play a videogame, and switch Studio 12′s tab to “Capture.” If you don’t get a signal saying “No Input,” you’re finished, and can have fun.

Final Words (Getting Max Quality)

To get the maximum quality, as some DVD players/VCRs and TVs down quality after output, plug your console directly into your capture card with it’s normal plugs. This is, unfortunately, the only way to get purest quality out of the console. Now, when you go to capture video, please head over to “Pinnacle Dazzle/Studio – Best Quality [How-to]” to ensure you capture and save your videos in the highest quality possible.

I’ve also got to give credit to Sean, who helped edit this post to make sure I covered everything and gave the tip on using splitters if you lack an Output set of jacks, and provided the picture.

Btw, this post was posted on Fynmark.org which was my old site, but I had to close it down for a while, so I am posting this here so that people may still learn from it. Now lets have a brief moment of silence while you read this sentence. Thanks.

Hey guys and gals, I’m going to be writing a post for you today! The topic is ‘Emotional Reactions to Games’, I will talk about my feelings on games that get you involved about specific characters, and how that affects people.

When I play the singleplay story of videogames today, I don’t want shit like Modern Warfare 2, or most other games out there. Even Halo 3. I want to feel connected to the story, drawn in, and feel saddened by the loss of a character, like in a book. Too often do games have throwaway stories, and they learn nothing from their rivals. At the very least, I want to feel sad or regret upon killing something.

The last time I was actually sad in a game was in playing Fable 2. I had sided with the evil cult because of the advantages of doing so, but then I was sent away for awhile. I came back to a town ravaged by the same cult I joined, and the very air was darker in the village; gloomy. I strongly regretted my actions, and remembered the names of several of the villagers I had interacted with most often. They, too, seemed gloomier. I had brought this upon the people. This is the emotional reaction I want — I want a game to be evocative.

Another instance of an emotional reaction in a game was playing GTA4 – yes GTA4, it has feelings, too — and several times I was faced with decisions of execution. These people I weren’t actually attached to, but in their final hour I actually stopped and thought. I thought of what I’d been told they’d done, and what part of that I thought was true. I shot Playboy-X because he hung his mentor out to dry. I killed several meaningless druglords. I saved Ivan, though, because he was against the menace I was forced to work for, and every act of rebellion I could pull off was strived for. Most of the characters in that game I didn’t care about, but these decisions made me stop and think. That’s what makes an even weakly compelling story: moments where you have to stop and think, where there’s no immediately obvious gain either way and it’s a completely moral decision.

Another way, I feel, to achieve a more evocative game and make people take more stock in their actions, is to add children to games. If there were children in GTA, I’d be a lot less likely to shoot anybody who said anything negative to me on the streets. Especially if each kid felt unique, as in there was an extreme variety in the character models and speech options to each action, and if they acted scared more wretchedly than the adults. I know I’d feel sad, ashamed, and regretful if I killed a young kid that was tripping, scrambling, screaming in his or her attempt to just get away from me.

To address you now, I’d like to ask: do you want more evocative and compelling singleplayer campaigns in games, or the throwaway crap that’s been all that’s being developed the past years especially? Would you also like to see similar things carried over into the multiplayer?

Thanks for reading!, in case you were wondering who this new guys is; I’m Tim, owner and founder of Fynmark.org (known before fall of 2008 as Finmark with an “I“). I’ve known Sean here for awhile, and helped him out a little bit with his forum that he used to own. We knew each other from Droidz (a little known and low community count pivot website). But that’s enough of our personal affairs.

I might be making some more guest posts here soon, so hopefully I’ll see you then!
