Zero Atoms

So I recently added a new comments manager to the site, it’s made by Disqus, it allows you to login and comment with either your facebook account, twitter account, disqus account or just login as a guest by filling out the required fields.

I think this is a good addition to the site because if a user wants to comment, they don’t have to screw around with filling out the fields to post, plus they will get a link to their facebook or twitter page instead of just a website that they enter in. Plus their avatar or profile picture will be displayed next to the post aswell.

The down side’s to the new comments manager is the inability to have your Gravatar show-up if you post as a guest and CommentLuv also doesn’t work. So I’m sorry about that, if you think the old comment system was better, leave me a comment to this post telling me. If I get enough comments about people not liking it, it will be put back to how it was.

Okay so I know it’s been a long time comming but I have finally put an icon for the site up which matches the name of the site. It’s an image of an atom. It may seem like a contradiction to the site but atleast it’s not the default leaf that came with this theme.

I have also made the ‘About’, ‘Contact Me’ and ‘Affiliates’ pages have no-sidebar and be full-width so there is no un-needed things distracting you.

P.S: sorry I havn’t made a proper post yet, I’m working on fixing the blog section and also the how-to on creating the second blog before I make a new one. I’m also running out of idea’s aswell so if you’d like to give me some ideas via the various ways you can reach me (header buttons), I’d be very greatfull. Continue reading this post »

Well I have finally finished adding the new theme now. It is an upgrade to the previous theme, it now has more features and has a better layout.

It took a lot of effort, I actually never ended up using that pre-paid ATM card because there was way too much work involved, they wanted photo ID (over the internet >_>), a governent statement saying my address and name on it, such as a utillity bill. So I just used a different means of payment.

We now have a new sidebar, a welcome message and a feed from my twitter account on the front page, some buttons at the top that link to ways you can stay up to date and contact me, and other cool things of that nature.

Well today I went to the post office to get a pre-paid visa card so that I could purchase the upgraded version of the theme I’m using now, it has more features and looks better.

Problem is that the cards take 24 hours to activate so I need to wait untill tomorrow morning to use it which sucks.

The reason I’m upgrading is kind of in a celebration to the fact that since this site started on the 17th of November 2009 we have recieved more than 5000 total visitors! I’m thinking of doing something bigger for the 10,000 total visitors mark, like a prize give-away or something like that.

P.S: I’m sorry I didn’t post a proper post last week, I was very busy and I had some-what of a idea block. Hopefully this theme upgrade will inspire me. Continue reading this post »
